Before you wax

1. Make sure that it has been at least 2 weeks since you have shaved and that your hair is at least 1/4 inch long.

2. Avoid alcohol and caffeine at least 12 hours prior. They can make your waxing more painful.

3. Gently exfoliate 24 hours prior to your wax.

After you wax

1. To avoid irritation, wait 24 hours before you tan, swim, exercise, take a bath, sexual activity, or tight clothing.

2. Do not shave or use any type of depilatory cream between waxes.

3. Gently exfoliate 48 hours after you get waxed to prevent ingrown hairs.

Waxing NO NO's

1. We cannot wax your face if you have been using any retinol or alpha hydroxy products in the past 7 days.

2. Retin A, Renova, Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Differin, etc can enhance skin sensitivity and can cause the skin to lift.

3. You must be off of Accutane for at least 1 year before getting any type of waxing.

4. It is best to consult with your physician first if you have a weakened immune system, diabetes, or are currently undergoing cancer treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions

CAN I RELAX IN A HOT TUB OR TAKE A BATH AFTER GETTING WAXED?

Try to stay away from HOT environments like saunas and hot tubs for 48 hours. Even hot baths can cause irritation and infections, and the same goes for swimming pools (48 hours).

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO HANDLE INGROWN HAIRS?

The best way to handle them is to not do anything to them. Don’t mess with ingrown hairs because this makes you prone to infection and scarring. If you’re prone to ingrown hairs, talk to your waxologist who can recommend an exfoliation regimen. Remember to always keep your hands off freshly waxed skin, as this can encourage irritation or small pimples.

HOW CLOSE TOGETHER SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY VISITS?

Not all re-growth cycles are the same. Some people get waxed every four weeks and some people can make it six! If you are unsure of how close to book your appointments, try four weeks apart to start and go from there.

HOW LONG DOES A BRAZILIAN TAKE?

The actual waxing takes about 15-20 minutes on average which means you can get in and get out.

WILL MY HAIR GROW BACK DARKER OR THICKER?

No! Waxing actually helps the hair to grow back at a finer texture, making it easier to remove during your next visit. The more you get waxed, the less it hurts.

IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT FOR GETTING WAXED?

NO!!! There is not an age limit. Guests 17 or younger should bring their parent or guardian in for the first time, as they will need to give their consent.

HOW LONG DOES MY HAIR NEED TO BE?

Let your hair grow to at least ¼ inch – this is about the length of your bottom eyelash.  It is better to go in with all you’ve got and more rather than trimming or shaving to try and tidy up before your visit.

SHOULD I SHAVE OR TRIM MY HAIR BETWEEN VISITS?

NO!!! Dont shave or trim between visits. Once you see that waxing leaves you stubble-free, you won’t want to. Staying away from clippers and razors will also help to remove more growth cycles during your next visit. If you have the urge to shave in between visits, book them closer together! Razors and clippers chop the hair at its thickest, making it harder for the wax to hold on to!

DO MEN WAX?

Absolutely! Many men also wax their chests, backs, noses and ears.

WHAT IF I’M TAKING MEDICATIONS OR HAVE ALLERGIES?

If you’re taking any medications or have allergies, please let your waxologist know. Taking antibiotics or topical acne medicines (including Accutane, Differin, Retin A, prednisone or corticosteroids) may make skin more sensitive and susceptible to some skin lifting.

CAN I GET WAXED IF I’M PREGNANT?

Absolutely! Sometimes your skin may feel a bit tender during pregnancy, but there is no harm to you or your baby. Make sure to discuss this with your waxologist. The more your waxologist knows about you, the better service she can provide.

WHAT IF I GET A SUNBURN BEFORE MY NEXT VISIT?

Please wait for your sunburn to heal before getting waxed to avoid lifting of the skin during the waxing process. This applies to rashes and other skin irritations.

CAN I GO TANNING AFTER GETTING WAXED?

Try to wait 48 hours to tan after waxing, just to be safe! If you do find yourself needing to be outside in the sunshine, just make sure to use some SPF!

CAN I WORKOUT AFTER GETTING A WAX?

Try to avoid going to the gym after waxing for 48 hours because perspiration can irritate your skin!

CAN I TAN OR SPRAY TAN AFTER WAXING?

Don’t plan to get a spray tan before getting waxed. Also, you don’t want to plan on getting a spray tan AFTER getting waxed because self-tan reacts with keratin in the skin and “stains” the skin. Waxing can cause self-tan to look patchy and streaky as it often removes the top (dead) layer of skin cells.

SHOULD I TAKE IBUPROFEN BEFORE MY VISIT?

If you have a low pain tolerance, take ibuprofen 30 minutes before your appointment to help out!

CAN I GET WAXED DURING MY CYCLE?

It’s okay to wax when on your period. Just change your tampon when you arrive at your appointment. Also remember that the increase of blood flow may make your skin more sensitive, so you may want to take some ibuprofen before your visit.

IS IT ALRIGHT TO FRESHEN UP AFTER GETTING WAXED?

Try to avoid using deodorant, moisturizer or other creams and lotions for several hours after waxing so you don’t clog your pores.
